Business continuity software: from BIA to a tested plan
ResiPlan brings business impact analysis, continuity and disaster recovery plans, crisis management, exercises and ISO 22301, NIS2 and DORA evidence into one data model. Hosted in the European Union, from €199 per month excl. VAT.
What is business continuity software?
Business continuity software (BCM software) supports the approach described by ISO 22301: identify critical activities, measure the impact of their disruption, define continuity and recovery strategies, document them in plans, test them and prove the arrangement works.
Its value is not in writing documents but in linking them. A continuity plan rarely fails because it is badly written: it fails because it no longer matches reality (a forgotten supplier, an RTO never checked against IT capability, an outdated contact list). The software links the BIA, dependencies, plans and exercises so these gaps show up before the crisis.
What ResiPlan does, module by module
One data model, from the BIA to a tested plan and audit evidence.
Business impact analysis (BIA)
Processes pre-filled for your sector, RTO, RPO and MTPD calculation, campaigns sent to process owners with an approval workflow and version history.
Dependency mapping
Processes, IT services, suppliers and risks linked in one model: a change flows through to the BIA, the plans and the risk register.
8 plan types, including DR
Business continuity, business recovery, disaster recovery, incident response, emergency response, crisis management, crisis communication, supplier resilience. For five of them an AI drafts a first version that your team reviews and approves.
Crisis management
Crisis team with roles and deputies, incident register, time-stamped decision log, communication templates per audience and reflex cards.
Exercises and lessons learned
Tabletop exercises and simulations; every finding becomes a corrective action tracked to closure and fed back into the plan.
ISO 22301, NIS2, DORA evidence
ISO 22301 clauses 4 to 10, NIS2 Article 21 and the DORA continuity requirements mapped; downloadable evidence pack, Word and PDF export.
How to choose business continuity software: 6 criteria
The questions to ask any vendor, including us.
One data model
BIA, plans, risks and suppliers must share the same objects. Otherwise you have rebuilt the spreadsheet, at a higher price.
RTO gap detection
The tool should compare the RTO the business needs with actual IT recovery capability and flag the gaps.
Business-owner input
Process owners must be able to answer the BIA without training or an expensive seat, with an approval workflow.
Plans usable in a crisis
Reflex cards, an up-to-date contact list, offline or mobile access: a plan nobody can open on the day is useless.
Exercises linked to plans
DORA requires testing at least once a year. Findings must flow back into the plan, not into a forgotten report.
Hosting and exit
Your map of critical activities is sensitive data: check where it is hosted, the sub-processors and full data export.
Spreadsheet or continuity software?
| Criterion | Spreadsheet + word processor | ResiPlan |
|---|---|---|
| Entry cost | Close to zero | From €199/month excl. VAT |
| Dependency mapping | Manual, duplicated from file to file | One model, reused by the BIA, plans and risks |
| Updates | Manual, several versions in circulation | Propagated, versioned, with an approval workflow |
| Business vs IT RTO gaps | Worked out by hand | Detected automatically |
| Exercises and lessons learned | Separate files | Linked to the plan, corrective actions tracked |
| Audit evidence (ISO 22301, NIS2, DORA) | Rebuilt before every audit | Requirements mapped, exportable evidence pack |

Business continuity software FAQ
What is business continuity software?
Business continuity software (also called BCM software) runs the continuity lifecycle in one place: business impact analysis (BIA), dependency mapping, writing and maintaining plans (business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management), exercises and audit evidence. Its main advantage over office documents is that these pieces are linked: when a process or supplier changes, the affected BIA, plans and risks are updated or flagged.
How much does business continuity software cost?
Most international vendors do not publish prices and quote on request. ResiPlan publishes its own: the Essentials plan starts at €199 per month excl. VAT, billed annually, with a free 7-day trial and no credit card. All plans are on the Pricing page.
Does business continuity software make you ISO 22301, NIS2 or DORA compliant?
No. No software makes you compliant or certifies you. Compliance depends on decisions, resources and tests your organisation carries out. A good tool structures that work, links each requirement to its evidence and saves you from rebuilding the file before every audit.
Does it also cover disaster recovery and crisis management?
Yes. The disaster recovery plan, the crisis management plan and the crisis communication plan are among the 8 plan types. Crisis management has its own team (roles and deputies), an incident register and a time-stamped decision log.
Is a spreadsheet enough for an SME?
For a first version in a small single-site organisation with few IT dependencies, yes. Beyond that, maintaining a spreadsheet (multiple versions, RTO gaps worked out by hand, evidence rebuilt for each audit) soon costs more than a dedicated tool.
Where is the data hosted?
Business data is stored in the European Union: database on Convex's EU deployment (AWS, Ireland), web servers at OVHcloud in France. Sub-processors and the safeguards that apply are listed on the Trust Center.
I am a continuity consultant: can I run several clients?
Yes. Each client gets its own isolated workspace, and you run all your engagements from one interface, with the same BIA and plan templates.
